Quantitative Inquiry Pathway

The Quantitative Inquiry Pathway focuses on data driven reasoning, technological problem-solving and empirically-grounded decision-making skills.   The overwhelming complexity of our interconnected world requires quantitative tools to make sense of it.  This Pathway prepares students to make decisions grounded in measurable information, including the employment of technology to process and interpret reality and implement solutions. Through the courses in this Pathway, students learn to model complexity and interpret data in order to effect policy and enable action.

Majors restrict Pathway Certificates to encourage a breadth of skills-development beyond their program. A Quantitative Inquiry Pathway Certificate may be earned within a major as a second certificate for students in the following majors:

All students complete a quantitative foundations course, but Quantitative Inquiry pursues these skills in greater depth. This Pathway prepares students to make decisions grounded in measurable information, including the employment of technology to process and interpret reality and implement solutions. Students learn to model complexity and interpret data in order to effect policy and enable action.
